'The Blacklist' Killed Off Liz Keen, But Is She Really Dead?
What happened in the April 14 episode of The Blacklist was incredible. Everyone seemed to get killed off in the show, which shocked and confused fans. But even as The Blacklist stars voice what they feel about the tragic bit, it is not clear whether every character has been knocked off the show completely.
Sadly, Liz Keen is killed---or that's what it seemed in the April 14 episode. While a pregnant Liz tried to run away from Mr. Solomon, she got entangled in a horrific car accident. Liz was rushed to the doctors, but could not get saved. Tom's baby survived, though. It left Tom a widower, along with being a single parent.
No statement on Liz's death has been made by NBC, nor is there any word on it. Megan Boone, who played Liz, may be leaving the series. Interestingly, she too is pregnant in real life, with her first baby.
However, we need to take it all with a pinch of salt. After all, anything can happen on TV, especially in The Blacklist. Maybe Liz faked her death.
One person is certainly stupefied, and that is Ryan Eggold, who plays Tom. "I was as shocked as I think the fans are!" Ryan told TV Line. "I have loved working with Megan, especially as we explored the complicated dynamic in Liz and Tom's relationship. I'm incredibly curious to see how this deep cut affects Tom's understanding of the world and what this means for the future of their daughter."
Another surprised cookie is James Spader, who plays Red. "I think it's most prudent not only as just myself and what I know or don't know for that but also in terms of the character of Reddington: Elizabeth Keen is dead," he told Entertainment Weekly.
There are some disbelievers who simply cannot accept that Liz is dead. Some rumours are going strong: "So, her character's fake death could have been NBC's way of ushering her off the canvas for maternity leave. Or it is also possible that Megan told TPTB that she wanted to leave the show indefinitely to care for her baby---so they killed off Liz."
Meanwhile, we know that Tom will soon have his own spinoff series on NBC. What would be interesting is---will Tom get revenge on his show?
