Aisha Tyler Divorce News: Actress Divorces Husband Jeff Tietjens After 22 Years Of Marriage
After a solid run of 22 years, "The Talk" co-host Aisha Tyler and Her husband Jeff Tietjens have called it off. They have announced that they are going in for a divorce.
They have been separated since January 2015, but the attorney husband Tietjens filed the divorce papers earlier this month. The reason cited was "irreconcilable differences."
The legal documents reveal that he does not ask for "spousal support," yet he reserves the right to ask for it much later. Tyler's rep, Lisa Morbete, said that they will remain friends.
Both of them were college sweethearts at Dartmouth College. They married in 1994.
On CBS' "The Talk," Tyler had said that she wanted a child, but had been found infertile along with her husband. In an emotional heart burst in a September 2013 episode, she confessed that the doctor had ruled out all hope.
"After 40 your chances of getting pregnant are between 2 and 8 percent," the actress said. "In my particular case, they were less than 5 percent. I'm old, in baby years, that's old to be trying to get pregnant."
She revealed a year later why she shared her struggles.
"I wanted families [and] couples to know that it was a valid choice not to get on this crazy merry-go-round of IVF and tens and tens of thousands of dollars," Tyler explained."People who do what I do for a living can afford that stuff, but most people can't. They mortgage their homes and they break themselves."
"And by the way," the actress continued, "most of them don't get pregnant. We only focus on the Cinderella stories. We don't focus on all the people that don't do it. And I wanted people to feel - men and women - it's OK to say, 'I love my marriage, I love my life, I choose not to have children.'"
