Fast And Furious 8 News, Updates and Rumors: Charlize Theron Joins Cast as Villain
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson posted a snapshot on his Instagram post, a throwback taken from 2015 CinemaCon, to welcome 'good bud and all around bad ass Charlize Theron' to the Fast and Furious 8 cast after an official announcement from the film's production team confirmed that she'll be playing a villainous role in the eighth installment of the long-running franchise.
"When MTV asked her how she felt about coming in and playing the villain, her response was classic and the reason why I love that woman," the 43-year-old actor revealed via Instagram. "She said, "I'm coming to mess that shit up!" #HellYeah #BringIt #FF8 #DaddysGottaGoToWork," Johnson's Instagram caption reads as quoted by Daily Mail.
The movie is the first of the trilogy that will end with the 10th installment. The film is expected to hit the theaters in April next year when Theron joins the adrenaline-fueled action behind the wheel alongside Johnson, Tyrese Gibson, Michelle Rodriguez, Vin Diesel, and Jason Statham who will all reprise their respective roles.
Apparently, The Rock's not the only one who got excited with Theron on board. Likewise, Gibson talked about how having more girl power could make a difference in addition to an already diverse cast.
"I had to [keep it a secret]. What we pride [ourselves on] in The Fast and Furious [franchise] is a very diversified cast that's translating domestically and internationally in a major way. When you look at the movie poster and you look to the left, you look to the right, I'm like, 'Fellas, we need some more women in here, man. We got to change this thing up a bit. We have bits and pieces of power women in it, but we needed to bring it up a notch," Gibson explained in his interview with ET's Katie Krause at the WE Day event in LA.
Meanwhile, Scott Eastwood also joins Theron and the rest of Fast 8 ensemble as he plays Kurt Russell's protégé although the exact details of his character remain under wraps while the movie is underway, Variety reported.
