NFL Draft Rumors: Eagles Will Likely Have Ezekiel Elliot for No. 8 Pick
Recent mock drafts predict that Philadelphia Eagles may end up choosing Ezekiel Elliot with the No. 8 pick in this year's draft which may turn out to be accurate after all.
Also, there are reports of the Ohio State running back having some quality time with the Eagles on Wednesday according to latest scoop from NJ.com. If this also proves to be true, then the Eagles will probably be keen on having him on their roster.
Latest draft rumors point to an ever-increasing likelihood of the Philadelphia franchise of having Elliot at No. 8 overall 2016 NFL Draft pick.
"If the Eagles stay at No. 8, and especially if two quarterbacks are gone by then as widely expected, then I continue to hear running back Ezekiel Elliott is the pick. They are in love with him, they have done extensive work on him, they have parted with accomplished veteran running backs LeSean McCoy and DeMarco Murray the past two years, they need an identity on offense and they are going to be limited at the quarterback position no matter who wins the job. So a run game is imperative," revealed NFL insider Jason La Canfora as quoted in his recent CBS Sports column.
He further observed, "This kid has a top-10 skill set and is plug-and-play and I don't see him getting past Miami at No. 12. This very well could be the second straight year we see a back go in the first 10 picks."
It's silly but equally thrilling to imagine about pre-draft rumors that start flying as the league inches toward the Draft. With a plethora of misinformation flooding sports media sites today, it really pays to take everything with a grain of salt.
Currently, there have been several discussions flying across the rumor land about whether not Elliott should be drafted and Eagle's VP has thrown in some comments from which all other speculations may have started from.
"There's this narrative that you can get running backs in the fifth, sixth, seventh round and undrafted free agency. But when you look back at the last ten years of guys that are really in the top ten in rushing, those guys are high picks," the team's Executive VP Howie Roseman said as quoted by SB Nation.
"And so, when you find a special talent at that position, that guy who can run the ball, who can pass protect, who can catch the ball out of the backfield, that's a unique weapon."
