New York Knicks Rumors: Carmela Anthony Wants To Talk To Team Pres Phil Jackson in Exit Meeting
Carmelo Anthony seeks to get some clarifications over the team's next plan of action in his exit dialog with New York Knicks management following the franchise's lost season. His statement somewhat carries a rebellious undertone or a veiled threat as he expressed his desire to sort things out with Knicks this offseason.
"If I'm going to be a part of this organization and the future of this organization, then I want to be a part of the decision-making in some way shape or form," Anthony exclaimed prior to Knicks' loss to the Pacers as quoted in a report by the New York Daily News.
A restless Anthony is bound to meet with the team's upper management including President of Basketball Operations Phil 'Zen Master' Jackson, GM Steve Mills, and a bunch of other executive officials in an annual end-of-the-season dialog with each team member.
The New York star player hopes that the exit meeting will revolve around the team's rebuilding efforts and ways on turning the tide to winning next season after missing three consecutive playoffs in a row.
"Just an understanding of kind of a plan, a plan of action of what they're trying to do, what we're trying to do, what we're trying to accomplish here," remarked Anthony as quoted by ESPN.
"I don't really have -- I think everybody knows my questions that I have. So it's just a matter of them kind of being transparent with me. We talk. We have an open dialogue, an open conversation, about how we all can get better at this situation moving forward, what I can do to kind of help and kind of fill the holes that we need to fill at this point."
Meanwhile, some pundits think that it's time for Knicks and Anthony to go their separate ways. Apparently, he already exhausted his fortunes during his 2013 peak and everything just went into a downward spiral after that. Instead of poring over long conversations about the future, Knicks should instead focus on rebuilding Knicks around a much younger figure: Kristaps Porzingis.
"Kristaps Porzingis is the franchise's face and its foundation now. He is the one around whom tomorrow must be built. The Knicks aren't one player away from maximizing tomorrow, nor are they two players away, or three. They need so much: a real coach and multiple additions," wrote sports columnist Mike Vaccaro for the New York Post.
