NFL News and Rumors: Cleveland Browns To Trade No.2 Overall Pick?
NFL reported that the Cleveland Browns are willing to trade the No.2 overall pick. Now many football fans are wondering who they will give the trade to do if this is true.
The announcement was made one week after the Tennesse Titans announced that there chances to trade their No. 1 pick have increased.
According to NFL, the Browns don't have much interest in picking someone in the first round and so are willing to hand over their No.2 pick for more selections in the later rounds.
Previously, the word was that the Cleveland team would use the No. 2 pick to snag quarterback (QB) Carson Wentz.
Others say that the club will go for Jared Goff like CBS Sports, who stated, "Goff is a California kid who played at Cal -- an area and a program that Jackson knows very well. Hamilton was coaching at Stanford when Goff was being courted by Pac-12 teams and he is very familiar with the kid from the recruiting process. He liked him then and, per his Browns' reports, likes him even more now. Goff is also the preferred choice by many in the analytics community as well."
But now that rumors are swirling that the team is willing to trade their draft pick might mean that they aren't looking for a QB after all. However, NFL reporters also have evidence that team is doing their research on what QBs will be available after round 1.
It's not yet clear who the trade and what players they will pick, but many are wondering if Robert Griffin III, who the Browns signed in March will play a part in the Cleveland's draft picks. According to Sportingnews, that NFL Media draft expert Mike Mayock reported that won't play a big part in the team's draft picks.
"If you believe there's a franchise quarterback at No. 2 when you're on the clock, you'd better draft him," Mayock suggested. "From my perspective, if it's Carson Wentz, draft him. Let him compete with the other two guys and let's see what happens."
There has been no official announcement made by the team's rep.
