NFL Rumors: Josh Gordon's Appeal for Reinstatement Denied; Athlete May Reapply In August

Josh Gordon's latest petition for reinstatement has met a severe blow after NFL top brass rejected his appeal although he might take another shot at getting back in the games on August 1. Following the confirmation of the rejected petition, NFL declined to issue further statements.

As reported by ESPN, the 25-year-old Cleveland Browns wide receiver's drug test last month yielded positive traces of marijuana use and dilute which used for concealing substance abuse.

Gordon's recent failed test is a major deciding factor should he attempt to file another request for reinstatement in the second half of the year.

He was penalized with suspension without pay in February 2015 for breaking NFL's strict standards concerning substance abuse. His indefinite suspension was a result of his repeated violation of the league's substance abuse program.

Gordon may have real talent to speak of but his behavioral delinquency may have already exhausted Cleveland Brown's hopes to put him back in active gameplay.

"We're very limited in terms of what we can do with communication and contact with Josh," Sashi Brown exclaimed as quoted by NFL.com.

He further noted, "Josh, we know, is working out and, by all signs, he's on the path to come back and be reinstated. It's a process that the team is not involved with. We will leave that, and I will not comment on that, but Josh is a tremendously talented young man."

As reported by Salt Lake Tribune, Gordon was initially served with suspension order in 2014 after drug test revealed positive for marijuana use. He was barred from attending 10 games after the league implemented stricter regulations concerning substance abuse. But with a string of substance abuse violations to his name, getting reinstated is unlikely to come any time soon and he may even get stuck at such predicament unless he does major shake-up with his life.
