Mark Zuckerberg Reveals Facebook Plans For Next Decade
Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg already has big plans for the next decade as well as a lot of area for conquest----the whole world. He talked about his plans to about 2,600 developers on Tuesday,
At his annual software conference, he gave an outline of Facebook's plans to encompass the planet's 7 billion through innovative technologies such as artificial intelligence, lasers and drones.
After the initial ambience of optimism, the speech became a bit political when he targeted those who want to "curb free trade, immigration and connectivity."
"We are one global community. Whether we are welcoming a refugee fleeing war or an immigrant seeking opportunity, coming together to fight a global disease like Ebola or to address climate change," he said.
He pointed out that Facebook's goals have always been to connect people around the world. He took a potshot at people like Donald Trump who were trying to create divisions.
"As I look around the world, I'm starting to see people and nations turning inward. I hear fearful voices calling for building walls and distancing people they label as 'others.' I hear them calling for blocking free expression, for slowing immigration, for reducing trade, and in some cases even for cutting access to the Internet," he said.
He said that in the modern day and age, optimism should overrule fear, and explained that technological advancements and innovations should "build bridges" not walls.
"It takes courage to choose hope over fear," the CEO said.
The three pillars of his global plans involve, firstly, Artificial Intelligence, which would help to figure out what users upload and update. Secondly, Connectivity targets making Facebook available to everyone around the world through lasers and drones. Thirdly, Virtual and Augmented Reality will become the "most social and engaging social platform" that has ever been created.
