Google has updated Android Wear for the second time since its launch in June. After this update, Android Wear users will get customized watch faces along with some new features such as battery tracking and card dismissal undo.

Google has released a new Watch Face developer tool and a new Android Wear companion app as well. With the help of the new Watch Face API, developers can make and distribute their own designs. API provides access to tools such as OpenGL for better graphics and other background services to put weather, appointments and other utilities on the face.

Google has also made many new watch faces available in the new Google Play Section. Users can download watch faces ranging from games likes Pac-man and classy options such as Rebecca Minkoff and Hugh Turvey.

For downloading these watch faces, users can use Google Play. However Google's newly released Android Wear companion can also be used. The app has been developed to ease the app discovery process, downloads and swapping of watch faces.

For developers who have already built watch faces using workarounds, Google urges them to build using the newly released official API. Watch faces built with standard APIs will deliver consistent experience to users as well as it might be a gateway for a featured spot in Google Play's Watch Faces catalog.
