Cleveland Browns: Johnny Manziel Set to Start Sunday
The Cleveland Browns will start Johnny Manziel against Andy Dalton and the Cincinnati Bengals this Sunday, according to Jay Glazer.
All eyes have been on head coach Mike Pettine after last Sunday's 25-24 loss. In that matchup against the Indianapolis Colts, Brian Hoyer threw two interceptions without a touchdown. Hoyer also completed less than 50 percent of his passes. After weeks of sticking to his starter, Pettine has decided give Manziel the chance to bring the Browns back.
"The Browns gave Hoyer a chance to save his job after being benched the week before, at the urging of veteran players. But another flat performance in the passing game was too much for them to stick with, so now the Johnny Football era in Cleveland can begin," Darin Gantt with NBC Sports' Pro Football Talk wrote.
The Browns will have home field advantage when they take on the Bengals, whose head coach, Marvin Lewis recently caused a bit of controversy by calling Manziel a "midget." Lewis has since apologized for his comment.
The Browns could still make the playoffs with the wildcard spot. However, the push will not be easy. They will have to bypass six teams in three weeks and Manziel could be the guy they need to make that happen.
And in timely fashion, Cleveland Cavaliers LeBron James has shown his support for Manziel by wearing a "Money Manziel" t-shirt after the game last night.
