NBA Trade Rumors and News: Will Houston Rocket's Dwight Howard Go to Dallas Mavericks?
Dwight Howard will become a free agent this summer. 30 year old Dwight has been one of the best center for last several years. His offensive play may have slowed down but there's no doubt whichever team that takes him will strenghten their defensive end.
According to Fox Sports, one potential team that will be interested in Howard is the Dallas Mavericks.
"Sources says the Mavericks' interest in Dwight Howard as a free agent this summer will be dependent on the price. The Mavs do not intend to be in on the bidding for Howard if it's in the neighborhood of a max contract, which would have a starting salary of more than $30 million. The Mavs made Howard their primary target and offered a max contract in 2013, when the center signed with the Rockets. However, concerns about the 30-year-old Howard's durability and desire have caused the Mavs to decide that he isn't worth a nine-figure investment over four years at this point."
However, it's obvious that Dwight will be looking for max contract while Mark Cuban, Owner of Dallas Mavericks, will unlikely give 4 years max contract to the former Defensive player of the year Dwight.
Dallas Mavericks goal is to bring Dwight to team to give last final chance to give another ring to Dirk Nowitzki and have him focus more on the offense and give less burden on the defensive end.
Dallas Mavericks are having a tough season fighting hard to barely enter the playoffs.
Dwight is an eight-time All-Star, eight-time All-NBA team selection, five-time All-Defensive member, and three-time Defensive Player of the Year
On the other hand, Shaq gives support for Dwight Howard to return to Orlando Magic. Dwight played for the Orlando Magic and brought the team to the finals in 2009 losing to Kobe Bryant's LA Lakers. However, Dave Daniels from Rantsports says the Rockets should quickly get rid of Dwight Howard to do better next year.
