Liverpool transfer rumors: Jurgen Klopp Pursuing Real Madrid Winger Lucas Vasquez
There are plenty of gaps in the present Liverpool squad, starting from the goalkeeping position to central defence and at attack but it seems manager Jurgen Klopp's first move in the transfer market might see him bring in Real Madrid winger Lucas Vasquez to Anfield. According to reports published by the Italian publication Corriere dello Sport, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been impressed with what he has seen from the winger this season and is considering a bid that would bring him to the Premier League in the summer.
The Spanish winger, who was a part of the youth system at Real Madrid from the time he was 16 years old has not been able to hold down a place in the starting eleven this season after returning to the club following a season at Espanyol. He has made a few apppearances as a substitute for the club and made only a handful of starts, however Jurgen Klopp has been impressed by what he has seen of the young winger.
Liverpool appointed Jurgen Klopp in the middle of the 2015-16 season in order to resurrect the club from a free fall under then manager Brendan Rodgers and so far he has done a commendable job with the team that he inherited. However the German's real test lies in making Liverpool a force in the English Premier League and in Europe once again and in order to achieve that he needs to build his own team for the following season. Vasquez seems to be Klopp's first move as he seeks to rebuild the attacking depth at the club which has often looked a bit inconsistent despite coming up with devastating performances at some points in the season.
Liverpool are expected to conduct an overhaul that could also see them buy a new forward in order to replace Christian Benteke, who has fallen out of favour with manager Jurgen Klopp and according to assorted reports, the club are also in the market for a new goalkeeper following a string of error prone performances from their first choice 'keeper Simon Mignolet.
