Luis Enrique defends the forward Barcelona trio after El-Clasico Loss
Barcelona lost the famous match-up the "El Classico" to their major on and off the field Rivals Real Madrid after the Los Blancos' new manager come ex-player Zinedine Zidane's first major win after he took the helm of the Madrid giants. It is the first major blow to Barcelona since the manager of the Blaugrana actually played for the Los Blancos before a major and controversial switch to the Catalonian reigning champions Barcelona. The match ended up 2-1 favoring "the whites" with Portuguese run-machine Cristiano Ronaldo scoring the deciding goal.
Luis Enrique, the current manager of the Catalonian club was forced to come to defend his famous trio Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar after the 2-1 Classico loss against Real Madrid, saying the three are not "machines" assuring he was still confident of his team and his players. The Blaugrana saw their impressive 39-match unbeaten streak come to an end on Saturday, as their archrivals completed a come-from-behind win at the Camp Nou, despite losing Sergio Ramos to a red card. As per Enrique, he mentioned about how even the best team in the world right now can succumb to mistakes.
After the match, Enrique was criticized for a number of decisions, including his lack of substitutions and his odd tactics. He started Messi in a central role, as opposed to his usual spot out wide, and the Argentinian was largely ineffective for much of the match.Messi's role in the center of the pitch gave the Catalans an extra passing outlet in midfield, but it also gave Marcelo tons of space to run forward, and the Brazilian enjoyed a fantastic match. Enrique still thought he made the right call. Neymar and Suarez didn't fare much better, and Barcelona's only goal came from Gerard Pique, who scored from a corner kick.
The result of Saturday's Classico added a bit of excitement to the title race, as the "Los Rojiblancos or the red and whites" Atletico Madrid now sit just six points behind the Blaugrana. While the Catalans are still the clear favorites to win La Liga, a single slip in the coming weeks would add even more pressure on the squad. However, there is nothing to worry for Luis as of now.
The manager lambasted all reporters present accusing them of overreacting to a single loss and over-exaggeration. Barcelona currently lead in all competitions they are currently taking part. With a potential treble in a second straight year, the team however has looked invincible all their campaign. Barcelona's next clash is against their local rivals when they face Atletico Madrid in the Champions league elimination bracket.
