Bayern Munich News and Rumors: Polish Sharpshooter Could Move out in the Summer
Poland and Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski could be heading out of the door at the Allianz Arena this summer if the latest reports in The Daily Mail are to be believed. The striker, who joined Bayern Munich from Bundesliga rivals Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer in 2014, has been in negotiations with the club representatives for a while. The player's representatives are working on a new deal that would not only imporove his wages substantially but also keep him at the club beyond 2019, which is when his current contract ends.
Although it is true that a deal could be struck in the comin weeks as the two groups keep negotiating, it is important to point out that players like Thomas Muller, David Alaba and Jerome Boetang among others have all been awarded new and improved contracts by the club. Considering his place in European football as one of the deadliest strikers around, he might be looking for a significant hike in his weekly salary and that might be one of the reasons behind the protracted contract negotiations. However, a long drawn out contract sage might not be in Bayern Munich's best interests since the heavyweights in Europe are all monitoring the situation closely and could well make a move for the striker if contract talks break down.
Spanish giants Real Madrid have been interested in the striker for some time and would be willing to bring him to Santiago Bernabau if Cristiano Ronaldo does leave in the summer. On the other hand, Bayern Munich's departing manager Pep Guardiola could also take him to Manchester City in the summer and the Spanish manager has the complete backing of the cash rich club in his quest to build a world beating team at the Etihad. Leandowski has been one of the stand out performers for Bayern Munich over the past two seasons and has scored a total of 36 goals in 40 games across all competitions for the Bavarian club and it is expected that Bayern will offer him a new contract that would be agreeable to all parties.
