Kpop News: GOT7 flies to Billboard Artist 100 chart
Korean group GOT7 made its big return into Kpop scene with their new album "Flight Log: Departure"
GOT7 is the first Korean group to chart on Billboard's Artist Hot 100 since Psy. Entering the chart at number #45, GOT7 is currently sitting above Eminem and Beyonce, and just under Ed Sheeran and Blake Shelton.
Fly starts at No. 2 on the World Albums chart. It's GOT7's sixth release to hit the chart following their 2014 debut EP Got It? (that hit at No.1 on the chart just days after the group's official debut), 2014's Got Love EP (which peaked at No. 6), their full-length Identity (No. 6), 2015's Mad EP (which also hit No. 1) and the Mad: Winter Edition (No. 12) mini album.
GOT7 also earn their highest ranking on the Billboard's Heatseekers Albums chart which sees a much smaller amount of K-pop acts. GOT7 had previously only sent their Mad EP to No. 15 on the chart, but Fly blasted to No. 2 this week, indicating a debut on the billboard 200 may not have been far off. PerhapsGOT7 would have made the top albums chart if the group had released on the global release day of Friday, March 18, instead of waiting to release on Monday, March 21, which gave thr group three fewer days of sales.
"Flight Log: Departure" was released on Mar. 21.
Upon its release, the album became No. 1 on iTunes album charts in the Philippines, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Taiwan, Vietnam and Thailand.
In line with the new album, GOT7 will launch their first world tour "Fly in Seoul" on April 29 and 30 at the SK Olympic Handball Gymnasium.
The concert tour will also hit China, Thailand, Singapore and the United States.
