The remake of the classic "Dirty Dancing", released in 1987, is moving ahead at a fine pace with more actors getting finalized to play the famous roles.

Fans of the romantic-musical drama can find out the latest details on YouTube as ABC has released the updated list of cast members. As per reports, this three-hour musical remake for television will not deviate from the original plot and will revolve around the love story of affluent Baby and working class, dance instructor Johnny.

Abigail Breslin of Scream Queens' fame will reprise Baby played by Jennifer Grey in the original while dancer Colt Prattes will essay the iconic role of Johnny, made famous by Patrick Swayze. Bruce Greenwood and Debra Messing will be seen in the roles of Baby's parents as Jake and Marjorie respectively.

Johnny's dance partner Penny will be played by eminent dancer Nicole Scherzniger who is also the former Pussycat Dolls bandleader whereas Sarah Hyland, who has featured in ABC's sitcom "Modern family", will be seen as Baby's elder sister Lisa.

Notably, Dirty Dancing is a blockbuster that enjoys cult status in Hollywood and has engrossed over $214 million worldwide. The film was a proverbial underdog during its making as it did not have any popular names, but went on to become a massive box office hit. The love story of two lovely souls, class struggle, awesome music and charming performances from the lead as well as the supporting cast made it a name worth reckoning.

Now, it remains to be seen whether the remake will be able to create the same magic. With a promising cast, chosen with careful attention to detail of characters, fans can expect fireworks. What is more, the famed music and dance sequences will also feature in the same way.

It is worth mentioning here that the remake was announced in December 2015. It is being directed by Wayne Blair and Jessica Sharzer will be producing and writing the television adaptation.
