San Antonio Spurs Rumors: Gregg Popovich Not Impressed In Team's Recent Record-Breaking NBA Win
Known for his media wits and leadership, legendary head coach Gregg Popovich apparently doesn't care about earning the most number of home wins. Despite the recent media spotlight after the team posted a record 38-0 at home this season, Pop remained grounded on reality as the team needs a whole lot of brains and power to overtake Golden State Warriors' recent standing in the Western Conference.
To date, San Antonio ties with 1995-96 Chicago Bulls of the Jordan era for winning 37 consecutive homecourt games- the longest home winning streak in the league's history. On top of that, the team is 63-12 with the best defense plus the highest net rating in NBA as stated in a Fox Sport's report.
When quizzed over Pop's reaction about the home record wins, Tony Parker simply dismissed the obsession over record-setting.
"Are you seriously asking me that? He doesn't care at all," Parker answered as quoted by ESPN.
Meanwhile, Parker also indicated that Popovich is unlikely to use his best lineup in Spurs' two more games with the Golden State Warriors in final two weeks of the regular season.
"I think no one will play (versus the Warriors). To Pop (Gregg Popovich), the most important thing is that the players are rested for the playoffs," said Parker as quoted by Bleacher Report.
The Spurs guard added, "For us, the end of the regular season is a good time to rest. That's why we play hard throughout the season, trying to win the most games possible, to find ourselves in this situation of "luxury," we are sure we will be the second seed and we can all rest before the playoffs."
While fans may be upset about not having to see the Warriors and Spurs at their best gameplay in the regular season, the teams nevertheless retain their focus on saving the good battle for the postseason race to the Western Conference championship.
