The Originals Season 2 Midseason Finale: EPs discuss Kol's secret plan [WATCH]; Important 'Haylijah' moment coming

Ever since Season 1 of "The Originals", Elijah (Daniel Gillies) and Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) have been playing a romantic game of sorts. They haven't really been able to commit to each other and after last week's episode - in which Phoebe agreed to marry Jackson (Nathan Parsons) - making any commitment would really difficult.

According to an interview executive producer Michael Narducci did with TVLine, fans should look out for an important "Haylijah" scene tonight.

"While it might not be the worst thing in the world to marry someone as handsome as Nathan Parsons and become queen of the Louisiana werewolves, that would mean she'd also have to find some closure in regards to her feelings for Elijah," Narducci tells TVLine.

Narducci explains Hayley will have to speak with Elijah and explain everything that's happening. "There's a huge scene in the midseason finale where that happens," Narducci says.

In a separate interview with EOnline, Narducci also discussed the return of Nathaniel Buzolic. Bulzolic, better known as the original Kol (no pun intended), will be back in the midseason finale in the form of a flashback. (Daniel Sharman has been playing the role of Kol in the witch's body Esther put him in.) Narducci explains something Kol did in the past will play a huge role in the present.

"He had an agenda back in 1914 with the witches," Narducci foreshadows. "That definitely informs Kol's alliance with Davina [Danielle Campbell] now and his feelings towards his siblings. He's walking a very fine line. He has no love for Esther [Sonja Sohn] and is being controlled and manipulated by her, and he's always felt, to a certain extent, that he was left out of the 'always and forever' vow between Klaus [Joseph Morgan] and Elijah and Rebekah [Claire Holt].

"So he has complex relationships with both sides of this struggle. He has a very interesting role to play in this episode."

As Narducci and fellow executive producer Julie Plec explain in the preview below, Kol will describe to Davina his situation with his brothers and sister. It turns out his friendship with Davina may be part of a long-standing plan rather than a spark between them.
