UFC Cris Cyborg and Ronda Russey News Update: Cris Challenges Ronda to Dare
Cris Cyborg was amongst one of the trending topics as she is all ready to make her debut against Leslie Smith in the UFC championship. The introduction of Cris in the UFC arena came a year later as she decided to continue her fight for Invicta as there was no feather weight division in the UFC league. She would be starting her journey in the UFC in the jam packed stadium in Brazil.
Cyborg would be contesting in the 140 pound category. However, there is a bit of confusion on the fact as to whether her participation is a one time engagement allowing her to take on the ring in front of her home crowd, or would UFC allow her to take over other participants if they are willing to compete in the catch weight. As per Cyborg, she has connected with many fellow participants in the 135 pound bantamweight division.
According to sources, Cyborg has expressed her eagerness and interest to face the retired Ronda Russey who was once a champion of the game. There have been certain provocative statements made by the star challenging Ronda to take on her before the packed house in Brazil. Apart from Ronda, Cyborg also challenged the likes of Holm and Tate, but to her dismay, she could not get a response out of them.
As per the reports or declarations made by Dana White, the president of UFC, Leslie Smith was the only fighter who agreed readily to take on Cris Cyborg and that neither of the other participants - either Ronda, Holm or Tate expressed any interest in facing Cyborg. Before formally announcing Smith as the competitor, there were speculations on Cat Zingano as one of her possible opponents.
Therefore, as per White's comments over Twitter, Cyborg does have a lot of options at her disposal provided the UFC relax their weight classes.
