WhatsApp adds Italic and Bold along with strikethrough formatting to Messages

Whatsapp has been one of the most used and the most trending social messaging paltforms across the globe. With the amplifactiomn of the smart phone industry, the platform saw scores of users switching to Whatsapp. Ever since, Whatsapp has been taken over by the social networking gaint Facebook, the application has seen a numerous changes with its regular updates and imporved features.

"Earlier this week WhatsApp turned seven years old. It has been an amazing journey and in the coming months we're putting an even greater emphasis on security features and more ways to stay in touch with the people that you care about." WhatsApp told about, in their blog.

WhatsApp are now ending support to their messenger on numerous platforms including BlackBerry devices (except priv.), Nokia S40 and S60 systems along with Windows phone 7.1 and Android 2.1 and 2.2. Now, finally it's letting its users to add formatting to their texts. The new update now lets people turn their texts to bold, italicize it and even strikethrough them.

This feature was tested in a beta version but has now been turned on for all users updating their phones on iOs and android for now. The update should automatically install and come with the version 2.12.535 for android users.

The feature however is hidden in the app and can be turned on by including certain characters only. Hence there is no function to enable it. Including symbols like asterisks around a message will result in the text being bold. Putting underscores on each side will turn it italic and surrounding it with tildes (~) will strikethrough texts.

All features are working together.
