As per recent buzz, Microsoft Pro 5 has been delayed until 2017, apparently because the company is preparing for the launch of their flagship Surface Phone and they don't want their much awaited hybrid to steal the attention.

By releasing a Surface Phone sometime this year, Microsoft plans to enter the smartphone industry that is already teeming with high competition, major players being Samsung and Apple. To make it capable of fighting fair and square with its contenders, the company is planning to add unique features and excellent specs.

The smartphone is rumored to come equipped with an 8GB RAM and storage capacity of 500GB. The users can expect this handset to be launched at a price point of $700 to $999. It will also come preloaded with productivity apps for the benefit of professionals and businessmen.

As far as Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is concerned, it will most likely be launched in Spring next year along with Surface Book 2. Another reason attributed to the hybrid's delay is Windows 10 Redstone 2, which is also deferred until 2017. Both Surface Pro and Surface Book will have 4K pixel resolution that will allow the users to stream 4K quality video on their tablet. Pro variant will have a screen size of 13.3-inch. Both the laptop-tablet hybrids will have SkyLake Chipsets from Intel, promising a faster and more efficient performance. The users will also be able to enjoy increased battery life.

Powered by Intel i5, entry level Surface Pro 5 will be priced at $899 and the ones powered with i7 will cost $999. The price is likely to vary based on other specs such as storage.
