There are many fans of Voltron who will be thrilled to see something back in action. To those who do not know what it is---well, it's time you did. This is a cartoon series about a mechanised cartoon released back in the 1980s.
Voltron: The Legendary Defender is produced by DreamWorks Animation.

Netflix has planned to revive some of the well-beloved shows even as it releases its library of "original content." Netflix has come out with a trailer for the new series and has also confirmed the release date. The first 13 episodes will be released on Netflix this coming June 10th.

The original 1984-85 series was adapted from Japanese anime. The story was all about five men and the princess of planet Arus, who managed lions. She would form Voltron and use his signature blazing sword in order to fight some huge villains.

While the latest release will have some new, modern aspects, as well as a serialized storytelling technique, earlier fans will find many parallels with the original series.

"I think the idea is that, when you watch a show like this growing up, you fill in the gaps that aren't necessarily there," said Joaquim Dos Santos, Executive Producer, at WonderCon's Voltron panel on Friday.

"Voltron is nowhere near the scale of a Star Wars in terms of mythology, but it has managed to stick around in pop culture and became this representation of teamwork."

There will be a lot more humor in the characters, as well as epic action and storytelling. The interesting aspect of the series is that Voltron is not necessarily going to feature in all the 13 episodes of Season 1, for the characters are expected to grow and develop.

"We're trying to keep as much of that classic feel to it as we can, because ultimately we have huge amounts of nostalgia for (the original) show," says co-executive producer Lauren Montgomery.
