Apple came out with another iPhone this month, termed to be the successor for their compact and stylish iPhone 5S that was released in December. Earlier than expected, although speculated the new iPhone was introduced along with their new iPads and their new operating systems for iPhones and iPads at their 21st March event in Cupertino. While many believed in pricing to be lower for this variant, it really didn't live up to people's expectations in terms of price point. Starting at Rs.39000 here in India and costing around 499$ in the United States if you are planning to get one from there. Let's compare both of them side by side.

From the above table, we can clearly note that there are hardly any changes in design and form factor along with the size of both the models. Everything's pretty much the same with button-placements and design along with resolution etc. One notable change however is that the SE variant now supports much needed NFC whereas it was absent in the original 5s variant. Out of the box, the iPhone SE comes with the latest 9.3 OS powered by 2GB ram now compared to the 1GB in iPhone 5s. In terms of hardware, the iPhone SE clearly bosses over its predecessor with the same chipsets implemented with the ones we saw in the iPhone 6s. Both the CPU and the GPU is now faster than most of the phones out there with apple clearly optimizing their operating systems to limited hardware capacities. Even in spite of 1.84ghz dual core A9 chipset that we see in the iPhone SE, it clearly outperforms some of the industry standard phones with graphic processes faster than 90% than the previous generation of iPhones. In terms of graphic processing unit, the iPhone SE is now equipped with PowerVR GT7600 hexa-core compared to the GT6430 quad-core graphics in the iPhone 5s.

In terms of Camera, the most anticipated part of the reviews for a majority to users, the iPhone SE has a 12MP sensor capable of shooting low light pictures with an f/2.2 aperture which is the same in the iPhone 5S however the latter had an 8MP sensor. The iPhone SE however is now capable of recording 4K videos and simultaneously shoot 8MP of snaps. The 4K image recording can be done at 30FPS which was absent in the previous variant, the iPhone 5S.

There are no changes in the secondary camera that is the front-facing camera except the fact that the iPhone SE now has 5MP than 1.2MP in the iPhone 5S. Majority of global LTE bands are supported in the SE along with LTE Cat4 speeds of 150mbps/50mbps. The new iPhone is supposed to ship on 31st march.

However, for a price point of 39,000INR it really isn't worth the price unless you are looking for a handy phone while compromising with display and a smaller battery. If you're an apple user probably an additional increment of 15,000 in your budget is worth it where you can get the iPhone 6s which is arguably a little bit bigger with better display than the new announcement.
