Pavlof Volcano in Alaska erupts: Sends ashes as high as 20,000 feet in air.
The volcanic eruption in the Alaskan Aleutian Islands on Sunday afternoon has sent ashes up to 20,000 feet in the air. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) has also confirmed in this regard and reported that Pavlof Volcano which was situated at about 600 miles southwest of Anchorage, Alaska erupted at 4.18 pm local time on Sunday afternoon. It also added by saying that the eruption had also caused the tremors on the ground. Recently U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) had risen the volcano alert level to "Warning" and also gave a "Red" warning for aviation related activities.
The agency quoted that the volcano was about 4.4 miles in diameter and has already seen about 40 eruptions over the time period and was the most consistently active volcanoes in the Aleutian arc. It is also to be noted that the last time this volcano saw its eruption it sent the ash plumes as high as 27,000 feet and other eruptions recorded generating ash plumes as high as 49,000 feet. But the closest community area to the volcano was Cold Bay, which is located 37 miles southwest of the volcano and came under safe radius from being affected by the eruptions.
The Aleutian Arc consists of large number of active and dormant volcanoes which were formed due to the subduction along the Aleutian Trench. It is in the U.S. state of Alaska. The name however finds its root and is similar to the Aleutian Islands which extend through the Alaska Peninsula following the path of Aleutian Range to the Aleutian Islands. Although the eruption has not led to any significant danger, USGS has however kept a closer eye on the activities and eruptions in the area. Since eruption might cause some problems to the aviation over the Alaskan region, necessary steps have already been taken by the concerned authorities as precautionary measures. There has been no report of any kind of casualties that has occurred due to Pavlof Volcanic eruptions.
