Brussels Airport to be Closed until Sunday After Terrorist Attack
Brussels Airport in Belgium will not be opened until Tuesday due to destroyed check-in hall that was caused by terrorist attack that killed at least 10 people there this week.
"Passenger flights into and out of Brussels airport are suspended until Sunday 27 March included," the airport said on Twitter.
"There is much damage and we do not have access to the building as the investigation is still underway."
"Until we can assess the damage, it remains unclear when we can resume operations."
The airport is one of Europe's most buy destination, and is the home base of Star Alliance member Brussels Airlines.
Brussels Airport was one of two locations targeted by suicide bombers on Brussels. Terrorist attacks at the airport and the Maelbeek Metro train station killed 31 lives and injured 270 others.
Authorities think both the Brussels attacks and the Nov. 13 bombings in Paris that killed 130 people were planned from Belgium.
In 2015, more than 23 million passengers used Brussels Airport, making it the 21st busiest airport in Europe.
