Apple Is Teaching How To Code With Free 'Hour of Code' Workshops at Apple Stores
Apple has teamed up with the non-profit organization Code.org for second consecutive year to make programming accessible to children and newbies. Apple stores at 446 locations across United States will be offering free hour-long coding workshops on Dec. 11.
Obviously, hour-long coding workshop cannot turn a newbie into game developers but instead aims to provide basics that would serve as a foundation for future training.
Interested individuals can register through Apple's website or can visit their nearest Apple retail store to inquire about available slots.
'Hour of Code' is an initiative kicked by Code.org with aim to motivate people - particularly young Americans to explore the world of computer programming and make a career out of it.
Senior Vice President of Internet software and services for Apple, Eddy Cue said about the collaboration between Code.org that Apple is proud to play a role in making computer coding accessible to students across United States.
He added that Hour of Code is an excellent way to encourage children and young adults towards computer programming.
"We are proud to be a part of making computer science accessible to students of all ages around the world. Education is part of Apple's DNA and we believe this is a great way to inspire kids to discover technology," Cue said.
Apple will also be hosting event at its stores around the world from Dec. 8 to 12 as a part of week-long activities to celebrate Computer Science Education Week.
Other tech giants such as Google, salesforce.com and Disney Interactive will organize their own Hour of Code programs.
"The Hour of Code, we hope, will continue to spark a creative fire that students might otherwise never discover," said Code.org cofounder Hadi Partovi.
