Easter is perhaps the most confusing holidays with no fixed dates to speak of with changes that go along the lunar calendar. It is the time of the year when most people are turning their attention to chocolates, egg hunts, Easter bunnies, and resurrection of Christ gospel.

For secular individuals, it's all about long weekend vacation spent mostly on hooking up with friends for a short trip or outdoor chill. Or a simple home 'staycation' with family members. Whatever your plans, it pays to get organized and take a few notes on this Easter guide.

With long weekend usually starting from Good Friday onwards, businesses and various levels of government offices often modify their work schedules to accommodate holiday concerns.

Federal, state, and local government offices are often temporarily shut down in observance of the holidays except for a number states where the holy week is not explicitly stated as official holiday. Some may government agencies choose to remain open on Friday like state and district courts as reported by Mass Live.

As for retail shops, most grocery stores close on Good Friday and reopens Sunday. Likewise, bars and liquor stores may elect to close down on Good Friday with resume either on Easter Sunday or Monday. Large shopping centers likewise close itself on Friday then resume operations mostly on Easter Sunday as quoted in a City News report.

Meanwhile, as Christendom celebrates Holy week with joyous festivities on Easter Sunday, the Christian holiday was also fraught with grim reminders of the hostilities that occurred on Ireland's Easter Rising.

As reported by Mirror, the Easter Sunday uprising was formation of armed military uprising carried out by Irish nationalists who fought British occupation of the Irish homeland. Although the six-day putsch was put down by the UK imperial forces, public opinion soon shifted in favor of a pro-independence Irish republican movement leading to the formation of modern-day democratic Ireland.
