NFL Rumors: Eagles Planning To Trade Up Carson Wentz
Recently, Carson Wentz appeared to have been draped in swirling NFL rumors. As the draft nears, speculations are rising over possible trade-ups to assemble an enviable army of highly skilled footballers.
In the case of the North Dakota State Bison quarterback, his perceived market value just skyrocketed with teams like the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles jockeying to have him on board their respective teams.
"Don't be surprised if a team like the Eagles makes a really strong move up the board to get (Carson) Wentz. I don't think he's worth it, but I think they do. Everyone thinks you have to move ahead of Cleveland, but (Browns Chief Strategy Officer Paul DePodesta) will want to get as many picks as possible out of this draft. It wouldn't surprise me if a team moved directly to Cleveland's spot for Wentz," remarked an unnamed NFC executive as quoted in an NJ.com report.
Well, as one of the top quarterback prospects in this year's NFL Draft, Wentz does seem to have promising a future in the league. In his recent stint with North Dakota last season, he finished 62.5% of his passes for 1, 651 yards, 17 touchdowns, and four interceptions which could potentially put him at no. 2 spot at least.
Respected NFL analyst Gil Brandt seems to have an optimistic assessment on the young Bison QB.
"One of the best pro days I've ever witnessed. Wentz reminds me of Joe Flacco. He had 2 55-yard passes that were as pretty as I've seen," observed Brandt in his tweet as quoted by Sports Glory.
But moving up the draft just to get Wentz doesn't come cheap. The Eagles have already spent quite a lot of money on trading up for the best quarterback prospect. For instance, the team already splurged $35 million on Sam Bradford and $21 million on Chase Daniels as reported by the Inquistr.
