Nintendo NX to be Released Later This Year.

The Japanese multinational consumer electronics and software firm Nintendo are creating a new next generation hardware concept called the "NX" according to a media event that took place a week back. They also hinted about its arrival sometime sooner as well.

According to a report from WSJ, Nintendo has already begun distributing software kits to developers for their new platform. Now media corporation Nikkei claims that Nintendo will announce the system this year which will also result in a shut-down of production of Wii U thereby making a way for studios and publishers working on games for the launch of their new system. Nintendo have gone beyond the point about renaissance for the Wii U and putting efforts to prolong its life is somehow a bad move.

Compared to their competitors in the field, sales were rather low for the Wii U. A downfall in sales has sure induced a lot of reasons. Nintendo's support for majority of the third-party publishers is almost nil or extinct with game developments decreasing even from the times of N64. Even though Nintendo did spend a lot of cash in bringing out some of the best in their franchises with Mario Kart being the best ever, the sales of Wii U however have been pretty abysmal and might not pick up anymore according to game-industry analysts with some even speculating that the sales might be worsening than GameCube.

Sooner or later, they have to make the jump to replace their aging systems to stay up in the competitive field for benefits, if any. Nintendo however were comparably slower to other brands which had already picked up the pace even though the company were at development well before others had come into competition.

However, it did look like a pretty cheap product in comparison to others. The distribution of developer kits to outsiders to produce games for NX indicates that Nintendo has in fact settled on some key aspects of design for their hardware. It's a typical fashion where companies would ship their developer kits to developers about a year prior to their releases.

The WSJ report does point out that the Japanese firm are keen on equipping the NX with industry standard chips. With other consoles being about a couple years older, the NX might potentially have a slight edge over others.
