Ellen Degeneres has been famous not only for her hilarious stunts but also for her generous nature. This week, she made a guest happy, Quincy Jones, a standup comedian who is diagnosed with stage 4 cancer by announcing that HBO is granting him a special project.

"You mentioned last time that you really want to do a comedy special. What you don't know is we called the head of HBO -- and your people didn't even tell you this -- but HBO is going to air your special," Degeneres said.

"Are you serious. Oh my God it's the best surprise. Thank you so much," Jones replied excitedly.

The standup comedian is said to be diagnosed with Stage 4 mesothelioma cancer last summer and is estimated to live in a maximum of one year. With such a limited time, Ellen Degeneres is helping Jones enjoy his limited time by further giving him 15,000 from Shutterfly to help in the production costs of his HBO special.

Aside from Ellen, another comedian and a friend of Quincy Jones helped him cover his health costs and launched a Kickstarter campaign.

This is not the only emotional episode being tackled in the Ellen Degeneres show recently.

In another episode, she invited Modern Family star, Ariel Winter, in the show and share about her painful relationship with her abusive mother who decided to finally emancipate her.

"You have been through a lot. You were emancipated from your mother. Explain what [that means] for people [that] don't know," the talk show host asked the teenager.

"Well, emancipation is basically you become your own entity. Nobody controls you anymore. You handle your own business affairs, your own living arrangements, your own money. Everything is sort of in your own hands," the 18-year old actress said about her experience.

The actress was finally granted emancipation last year when the Department of Children and Family Services had proven that her mom Chrisoula Workman was, indeed, abusing her. The process went through a long court battle with the young actress gaining emancipation in the end.
