Twitter Character Limit Extended to 10,000- Twitter CEO

The chief executive officer of Twitter, Jack Dorsey, stated on Friday that Twitter's 140-character tweets are here to stay thus ending speculation that the micro blogging site might abandon one of its trademark features for a 10,000-character limit. He further added that it would be a good constraint for them and would allow for of-the-moment brevity.

However a direct comment on the feature was avoided. Tweeting the day of the report Dorsey said that the company would not feel shy about building additional utility and power for people into Twitter.

Twitter has declined to comment on the feature directly. But Dorsey tweeted the day of the report that the company had seen more screenshots of text posted as a way to get around the 140-character limit. Ever since Dorsey returned to run Twitter permanently in October he has changed a few core features pertaining to Twitter. One such was "Moments", using which it becomes easier for user to locate tweets about the day's biggest news stories, and changed the shape of its "favorite" icon from a star to a heart.
