Snoop Dogg news and update: Rapper Makes Small Romanian Village Famous, Tourist Site Emerges
A small Romanian village has become famous in an unusual way - through an Instagram typo made by the rapper, Snoop Dogg.
On Friday, Snoop was heading towards Bogota, Colombia for a concert when he posted a selfie of himself on the plane. However, he didn't tag Colombia's capital... He tagged himself in Bogata, Transylvania in Romania.
Fans immediately noted the mistake, especially Romanian followers. A tourist website called "Visit Bogata" has been launched where potential visitors can view all the things that can be done in the village of 2,000.
The site opens up with a comical reference to the rappers typo: "Snoop Dogg checked into Bogata, Mures by mistake - but you don't have to!"
According to Balkan Insight, the website was created by a Romanian media agency called Kinecto agency.
"We just wanted to show that if you check into a place in Romania, even by mistake, for sure you can find something special there. Bogata is one of the many wonderful places here," said Silvia Marinescu, from Kinecto agency.
The site also mentions that Bogata is just 5.5 hours away from Bucharest and boasts of the village being the perfect place for a vacation.
"Either you plan a longer vacation in the area, or a short break from the hustle and bustle of the city, Bogata awaits you. Bring your tent, sleeping bag, comfortable shoes and get ready for the chillest weekend you could imagine," the site states.
It's no doubt that though it was a hilarious mistake, it can now be used for the small village's advantage.
"It was a mistake but it's a good advert for us," Bogata's mayor, Laszlo Barta, told The Associated Press.
