San Francisco 49ers: NFL Execs Pick Carr over Kaepernick

The San Francisco 49ers have had an up-and-down season with a record of 7-5. After last week's loss against the Seattle Seahawks, quarterback Colin Kaepernick has received a lot of criticism. In their upcoming game against the Oakland Raiders (1-11), Kaepernick can start to redeem himself. However, according to NFL executives, Kaepernick has got nothing on Derek Carr and the Raiders.

In a poll generated by former NFL scout, John Middlekauff, he asked five NFL executives and former quarterback coaches who would win in this week's matchup: Carr or Kaepernick. Despite the fact that Carr has only one win and 11 losses this season, all five of them picked Car over Kaepernick.

According to Middlekauff, even though Kaepernick has the better arm, Carr has proven that he can learn on the fly and has the potential to grow into his starting position. Carr has also repeatedly shown that he can adjust and make plays to a team that is arguably less talented than the 49ers.

"Carr's pocket presence and natural development over the '14 season has caught the eye of many around the NFL. His arm strength was never the question and he has quieted the "he may not be tough enough" crowd quickly. Everyone I spoke with was very bullish on his potential and what he will become once Oakland surrounds him with talent," Middlekauff with The Sideline View wrote, reported by CBS Sports.

He added that, "The consistent sentiment is [Kaepernick] may just be what he is and some of his fundamental flaws will not change (accuracy/touch) over time. Kap's frenetic play is just something his coach and skill guys will have to learn to live with, it may not be something that changed. He will always be a guy that forces you to live with the bad because the good is so special."

Carr and Kaepernick were both 36th overall picks separated by three years.
