Artist-singer Yoko Ono was reportedly admitted to a hospital in New York after exhibiting flu-like symptoms.

Her representative, Elliot Mintz, said she was hospitalized on the advice of her physician rejecting media rumors that she suffered a stroke according to a report by Boston Globe.

"The earlier reports were erroneous. There is no stroke and there are no life-threatening circumstances as has been described to me. To the best of my knowledge, she had symptoms along the lines of a serious flu, and her doctor thought it was best that she would get a check-up at the hospital," remarked Mintz as quoted by the Rolling Stone Magazine.

The 83-year-old widow of Beatle John Lennon was rushed to Mount Sinai West Hospital from her residence at the Dakota building at Upper West Side where she had lived with Lennon since 1973. It's the same building where the famous Beatle was shot and killed.

After spending a night at the Manhattan hospital, the avant-garde music artist released from the said hospital, formerly Roosevelt, on Saturday.

"Thanks again for everyone's concern. She's home and running about as usual. Just the flu in the end. I may go get a flu shot now," Ono's son, Sean Ono Lennon, said on Twitter statement as quoted by CBS Local New York.

Ono was born in Japan and survived the tragedy of World War II. She then migrated to the United States after she turned 18 and studied at Sarah Lawrence College but eventually dropped out.

Like her deceased husband, Ono has been known for her experimental brand of music and even co-wrote and co-produced avant-garde music with Lennon.
