Grammy Awards 2016: Taylor Swift Hits Back At Kanye West After Releasing Misogynistic Lyrics
Taylor Swift may not have openly fired back at Kanye West despite his endless insults against the singer but her acceptance speech for her Album of the Year award at the Grammys 2016 may just be her perfect message for him.
"As the first woman to win album of the year at the Grammys twice, I want to say to all the young women out there: there are going to be people along the way who will try to undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame."
"But if you just focus on the work and you don't let those people sidetrack you, someday when you get where you're going, you'll look around and you'll know it was you and the people who love you who put you there and that will be the greatest feeling in the world," she told the crowd as mentioned in USA Today.
Taylor and Kanye's beef started in 2009 when her then-single "You Belong With Me" outwitted Beyonce's Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It). At that moment, the rapper made headlines when he jumped on stage and proclaimed that he believed Bey should win the award instead, Rolling Stone said.
"Yo, Taylor, I'm really happy for you and I'mma let you finish, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time. One of the best videos of all time!" the rapper told the audience who had been booing at him.
A lot of celebrities went out for Swift and Bey, herself, is not proud with what Kanye did. She even invited the then-19 year old singer to join her on stage when she received the Video of the Year award.
This year, the 26-year old singer performed "Out of the Woods" in a sexy jumpsuit that is different from her red carpet attire earlier. Aside from Tay, Lady Gaga also stunned the audience with a David Bowie tribute. She was later joined by Stevie Wonder and the a capella group, Pentatonix in singing That's the Way of the World in honor of Earth, Wind and Fire, according to Fox News.
Some members of the Eagles also made a tribute for the late, Glenn Frey.
