Tipster information suggests that Apple's upcoming flagship- the iPhone 7 and its variants- will ditch the standard 3.5mm headphone jack and will instead have a second speaker in its place to give the handset a stereo audio output.

"The headphone jack on the iPhone 6s is located along the same edge as its single speaker, which might make it a natural location," according to an Apple Insider article picked up by The Week.

The new iPhone 7 without the phone jack might come with Lightning-equipped headphones or a Bluetooth wireless headphones as an optional replacement.

Other smartphones like Google Nexus, HTC, and Sony have been equipped with a stereo speaker setup. Another rumored iPhone 7 add-on will probably give it quite an advantage over its closest rival Samsung Galaxy 7.

The leaked report is also echoed by concept renders by known graphic artists such as Arthur Reis who created an iPhone 7 concept model minus the conventional headphone jack.

According to a report by the International Business Times, Reis' concept render was inspired by iPhone 7 rumors that have been swirling around. His headphone jack-less model offers a stunning device guised in gold, rose gold, silver, and space gray. Also, the imagined design has water-resistance attributes, AMOLED screen, and wireless charging.

Meanwhile, Apple Insider writer Roger Fingas noted that the upcoming iPhone models will not include a dynamic noise cancellation feature for the 2016 release but will have a basic digital codec. However, built-in noise cancellation is planned to be installed in iPhone 7 variants due for 2017 release.
