Cleveland Cavaliers Rumors: Kevin Love has no Plans to Leave
Kevin Love dispelled any rumors that he is leaving the Cleveland Cavaliers in a recent interview with the ESPN's Mike and Mike Radio Show. The three-time All-Star stated that he was in it for the long term.
"I said since day one I'm a Cleveland Cavalier long term," Love said. "I plan for it to be that way, and I want to grow with this team."
Love was traded to the Cavaliers from the Minnesota Timberwolves this summer to join LeBron James and Kyrie Irving. Despite the hype behind this trio, the Cavaliers have not dominated. After the team's 1-3 start, Rumors were swirling that Love might choose to opt out of his contract once the season is over.
"Whether we lose two or three games in a row, or there's a game where my statistical output isn't necessarily what it should be, people are always going to talk," said Love.
Before coming to Cleveland, Love had revealed his intentions of testing the market. However, Love insists that he does not want to leave. Instead, he wants to develop with the team.
In the interview, Love added, "If I could end all the speculation now I would, but people are going to continue to talk no matter what. I just want to continue to get better with this team longer team. I'm a Cavalier."
The Cavaliers have been clear that they plan on offering Love a max contract at the end of the season.
Love is averaging 17.9 pound and 9.5 rebounds. His performance over the past three games has improved with an average of 25.3 points and 8.3 rebounds. In his last season with the Timberwolves, he averaged 26.1 points and 12.5 rebounds.
The Cavaliers (9-7) will be taking on the New York Knicks (4-14) at Madison Square Garden on Thursday at 8:00 p.m.
