Google is rolling kid-friendly versions of its popular products such as search, YouTube and Chrome, according to a report by USA Today. The design of these products will be aimed at 12-and-under crowd.

"The big motivator inside the company is everyone is having kids, so there's a push to change our products to be fun and safe for children," Pavni Diwanji, the vice president of engineering charged with leading the new initiative was quoted saying by USA Today

There is no definite timetable for the rollout though.

According to various other reports, the search giant may also prioritize search results for things kids expect.

The effort will not be only to filter out 'naughty' media or tightening privacy controls, but as a chance to encourage creativity like it has been doing with kid-centric efforts such as its virtual Maker Camp, Doodle 4 Google competition and Made with Code initiative.

"We want to be thoughtful about what we do, giving parents the right tools to oversee their kids' use of our products," said Diwanji. "We want kids to be safe, but ultimately it's about helping them be more than just pure consumers of tech, but creators, too."

If they work, however, it will be a big relief to parents.
