Google Makes it Easier To Prove Yourself Human By Reinventing CAPTCHA

We all have been there - trying to solve those word puzzles, sometimes extremely hard word puzzles to use a service. There is no choice if we want to protect websites and Internet in general from spam and robots, but admit it, the process of proving yourself human is cumbersome and embarrassing sometimes.

Seems like Google has almost solved it. The company has reinvented the CAPTCHA experience and is replacing the existing technology with "No CAPTCHA reCAPTCHA". The new technology would offer users a tick box and that would be enough to prove that you're a human.

"We figured it would be easier to just directly ask our users whether or not they are robots-so, we did!" said Vinay Shet, Google's product manager for reCAPTCHA, in a blog. "We've begun rolling out a new API that radically simplifies the reCAPTCHA experience. We're calling it the 'No CAPTCHA reCAPTCHA.'"

Improving the user experience is not the only motive behind developing the new technology, but today's artificial intelligence technology can solve almost all variant of distorted text with 99.8% accuracy.

"Thus distorted text, on its own, is no longer a dependable test," Shet said.

The new technology is based on an advanced risk analysis back-end mechanism that actively considers a user's entire management with the CAPTCHA - before, during and after - to confirm that the user is a human.

"This enables us to rely less on typing distorted text and, in turn, offer a better experience for users," Shet said. And, "while the new reCAPTCHA API may sound simple, there is a high degree of sophistication behind that modest checkbox."

Google is also working on the mobile aspect of CAPTCHAs.

Evidently the new technology has already got early adopters like Snapchat, WordPress, Humble Bundle and others.
