A ‘Frozen’ Short Film set to Air Before Disney’s Live-Action ‘Cinderella’
Frozen fans will have something to look forward to this upcoming spring. According to Walt Disney Animation Studios, they will release Frozen Fever, a short film starring Anna, Elsa, Kristoff and Olaf, in front of their live-action Cinderella.
Frozen Fever will be focused on younger sister Anna's birthday. In the film, Elsa teams up with Kristoff to hold a celebration for Anna. However, Elsa's powers end up complicating their plans, which could jeopardize the party.
Prior to Disney's announcement, Idina Menzel, who sang one of the movie's most popular songs, "Let it Go," commented to The Telegraph regarding a potential Frozen sequel, "They're all in the works. Not the stage show...I don't know what will happen with that, but the movie hopefully. We'll see. I'm just going along for the ride." Even though the sequel is not in the works as of yet, Frozen Fever could be just what the fans ordered.
The short film was directed by Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee, who were a part of the Frozen team and produced by Peter Del Vecho and Aimee Scribner. The short will include new original songs written by Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez. Actors and singers, Menzel, Kristen Bell, Jonathan Groff and Josh Gad will also play their respective roles.
Frozen, which was released in November 2013, is the highest grossing animated film of all time. Frozen Fever and Cinderella will hit theaters on March 13, 2015. Cinderella, directed by Kenneth Branagh, will star Lily James, Helena Bonham Carter and Cate Blanchett.
