Knicks Rookie Kristaps Porzingis’ Jersey is 4th on the NBA Sales List
New York Knicks rookie, Kristaps Porzingis, continues to grow a strong fan base.
According to the NBA, the Latvian and fourth overall pick in the 2015 draft is fourth on the list of jersey sales from October through December. Ahead of Porzingis are veteran favorites Golden State Warriors Stephen Curry (No. 1), Cleveland Cavaliers LeBron James (No. 2) and Los Angeles Lakers Kobe Bryant (No. 3).
Porzingis, 20, was the only rookie to be within the top 15 on the list. In his break out season so far, Porzingis has been averaging 14 points per game, which is third among all of the rookies. He is second behind Minnesota Timberwolves rookie Karl-Anthony Towns in rebounds with an average of eight. His 2.0 blocks per game and 85 percent free throw shooting percentage are No. 1 among the other rookies.
The remaining players who rounded out the top 10 in jersey sales were Oklahoma City Thunder Kevin Durant (No. 5) and Russell Westbrook (No. 7), Chicago Bulls Derrick Rose (No. 6) and Jimmy Butler (No. 10), Cavaliers Kyrie Irving (No. 8) and Houston Rockets James Harden (No. 9).
In terms of team sales, the most popular team was the reigning NBA Champion, the Warriors. The other teams in the top five included the Bulls, the Cavaliers, the Lakers and the Knicks.
