The Brooklyn Nets are looking for a general manager that can attract free agents to the team, and according to an ESPN.com report, Bryan Colangelo might just be that person.

League sources have reportedly stated that Colangelo, who is a two-time former NBA Executive of the Year and was the general manager for the Toronto Raptors and the Phoenix Suns, is a heavy favorite for the Nets' vacancy.

Per ESPN.com:

"The Nets, sources say, have been drawn to Colangelo because of his strong track record in building contenders in both Phoenix and Toronto as well as his varied experiences over more than two decades in the league."

The Nets' previous general manager, Billy King, was reassigned on Sunday after the team decided to part ways with head coach Lionel Hollins. King held the general manager post for five and a half years.

Despite the early reports that the Nets want Colangelo, Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov has stated that he will be conducting a thorough search for candidates for the general manager and coaching positions.

For the coaching position, there were reports that the Nets were interested in John Calipari, the head coach for the Kentucky Wildcats. A report from Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! News specifically stated that Calipari would only leave Kentucky if the offer was around $120 million for 10 years or at least $11 million per year. Calipari has since shot down those rumors, stating that his only focus is the wildcats.

Dimitry Razumov will reportedly be heading the search committee, ESPN's Chris Broussard reported.
