Patriots Tom Brady has a Sprained Ankle, Expected to play in the Playoffs
New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady suffered a sprained ankle in Sunday's game. He is expected to be ready for their first game of the playoffs, ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter reported on Monday.
Brady reportedly underwent an MRI on Monday morning that confirmed his minor injury. There were no signs of fractures or any other kind of breaks.
The quarterback was hurt in the second quarter of the last game of the regular season against the Miami Dolphins after being tackled by defensive lineman Ndamukong Suh. Brady had received medical care on the sidelines immediately after the hit and was able to play with a taped foot.
The Patriots ended up losing the game 20-10. Brady had completed 12 of 21 passes for a season low of 134 yards. He had no touchdowns and was sacked twice. He was replaced with backup quarterback, Jimmy Garoppolo during the final drive.
"I'm pretty sore but it will be all right," Brady had said after the game.
He had also said, according to the New York Post, "I didn't see the replay [but] I'll be anxious to see it."
