Quentin Tarantino Receives An Email A Day From Desperate Channing Tatum Who Wants To Be In Hateful 8
Channing Tatum, who has been known for his striptease roles in the Magic Mike series, managed to squeeze himself in Quentin Tarantino's elite cast in Hateful 8. How he did this, the actor revealed a very brutal tactic that earned him a nod from one of today's premier directors.
"I basically sent about an email a day for about a month just threatening any other actors that might be up for the role. I was just praying that no one really tough was up for the role. I'm so happy that he didn't say, 'Well Mike Tyson is up for this role," the actor told Jimmy Fallon at The Tonight's Show With Jimmy Fallon via The Hollywood Reporter.
The Magic Mike actor also shared that he felt the jitters during the first table reading when he met Tarantino's 'alumni cast.' In that first script reading, the actor is said to have met the director's 'actual family' including Bruce Dern, Kurt Russell and Jennifer Jason Leigh.
"I start getting terrified. I'm just shaking. I've never been so nervous."
He also shared a tensed moment while being with the cast.
"I have a scene with Bruce Dern and so one of our first things is, you know, I have to shake his hand, and I make this really dumb, over-zealous decision and I pull him in reall close. And I almost pull Bruce Dern out of his chair, and he's like, 'You jerk! You almost pulled my arm outta the socket," he called via EW.
The actor-dancer, however, started to feel at home when Samuel Jackson came in and gave him a big hug.
I saw Sam [L. Jackson] when we came to the table read, and he gives me a big hug and he's like, 'Welcome to the family. And that made me feel good, but then everyone else started coming in that are like these amazing heavy-hitters," he said.
Meanwhile, Channing Tatum is slated to have a lip sync battle with his wife Jenna Dewan in 'Lip Sync Battle. The episode will be shown on January 7, Huffington Post said.
"I just really hope my marriage isn't over after tonight," he said in the trailer.
