Mother Teresa Nearly To Be Hailed As Saint As Pope Approves Miracle
Mother Teresa's sainthood is underway following Pope Francis acknowledgement of a second miracle via holy intercession of the late nun to a Brazilian man with several brain tumors in 2008.
"The Holy Father has authorised the Congregation for the Causes of Saints to proclaim the decree concerning the miracle attributed to the intercession of blessed Mother Teresa," the Vatican announced on Friday as quoted by BBC.
Mother Teresa, who was born Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu in Skopje in 1910 and who died in 1997, got her first beatification in 2003. The prieast further said that the man who was about to undergo a neurosurgery was found conscious again in his hospital room 'inexplicably awake and without pain.' After his recovery, the patient had also miraculously manage to revive from the sterility that his medicines have caused and has produced two children.
For our people, even much before canonization, Mother [Teresa] was a saint. We are very, very happy. It's like a Christmas gift given to us," Archbishop Thomas D'Souza of the Archdiocese of Calcutta said as mentioned in Wallstreet Journal.
Mother Teresa is slated to be canonized on September, the date coincides her death nineteen years ago and the Pope Francis' Holy Year of Mercy.
