UPDATE:

Prosecutors are stating that the French teacher fabricated the entire story about being stabbed by a masked man who is an ISIS supporter.

Original Story

A French kindergarten teacher in Paris is currently recovering from being stabbed in the throat by a masked man who pledged his allegiance to the terrorist group, the Islamic state, also known as ISIS and ISIL, French authorities stated.

The 45-year-old teacher, who was brought to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, was in an empty classroom at the Jean Perrin d'Aubervilliers primary school located in Aubervilliers when the man proceeded to stab the teacher with a sharp item.

"He was surprised by an individual who was in the school," Pascal Beaudet, the mayor of Aubervilliers, said to reporters according to The Washington Post.

According to French newspaper, Le Parisien, the attacker was wearing a balaclava. The New York Times reported that the man was wearing a ski mask and gloves.

The Times cited Philippi Gallis, the top government official in the Seine-Saint-Denis region, stating that the weapons used were a box knife and scissors.

The Bobigny district prosecutor's office added that the attacker had said, "This is a warning, this is only the beginning."

Other reports are stating that the man said, "It's Daesh. This is a warning."

Daesh is the Arabic name for the Islamic State.

"It's an act of great gravity," Education Minister Najat Vallaud-Belkacem, who visited the school, said while promising to increase security at schools.

The authorities are currently looking for the assailant and investigating the motives behind the attack. The Islamic State did threaten to attack all French teachers, who they considered to be "enemies of Allah" in their November propaganda magazine issue.

Paris is still recovering from the Nov. 13 attacks that ISIS has claimed responsibility for. During that day, terrorists had opened fire and detonated bombs in several locations throughout the city, causing 130 deaths and more than 300 injuries. Since the attacks, French President François Hollande has declared war on ISIS. France has also called upon allies to step up and intensify their military offense in Syria, one of the countries that ISIS is based in.

France, the United States and Britain have all ordered airstrikes on targets in Syria believed to be tied to ISIS. Russia has also been actively fighting the group.
