UFC President Dana White says Holly Holm and Ronda Rousey will Rematch
UFC President Dana White is reassuring boxing fans that Holly Holm and Ronda Rousey will rematch sometime in the future.
Last month, the world was shocked when Holm (10-0) took down undefeated champion Rousey (12-1) in UFC 193, which was held in Melbourne, Australia. Not only did Holm beat the seemingly invincible fighter, she did it with such command and power. Right after the fight ended, while Rousey was getting medical care for her wounds, White and many others were already talking about a rematch.
"I think that if we didn't make the rematch, me and [UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta] should probably lost our promoter's license," White said while on Mike & Mike this Thursday. "That's the fight that's going to happen. That's the fight. Ronda Rousey has gone undefeated; she's taken the sport to another level and beaten the best women in the world in 14 seconds, 30 seconds. She deserves a rematch. Holly agrees she deserves a rematch. We'll figure it out."
White also talked about Rousey's loss, stating that he has no clue what happened.
"The fight [Rousey] had right before that, she knocked a girl out in 30 seconds and she was still living that lifestyle," White said. "I don't know what the answer is, why she lost -- this woman who was so dominant -- other than the fact Holly Holm is for real. She's very, very good. Ronda had been a workhorse before that. Maybe everything caught up with her. Maybe she was exhausted. Or maybe Holly Holm was that good."
Rousey's only response after the brutal beating was a post on Twitter that read, "I'll be back."
There are no details regarding when this fight will be planned out. Rousey did say before the fight that she had planned to take a break to focus on other things in her life.
