New England Patriots Linebacker Jamie Collins Returns to Practice
The New England Patriots welcomed back Jamie Collins to practice after the linebacker was sidelined due to an unknown illness, which Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald reported was "contagious."
It is unclear what Collins suffered from although reports have stated that it was not MRSA (methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus). The illness did lead to weight loss and strength.
Since Collins has been out for more than two weeks, it is unlikely that he will be getting the start Sunday when the Patriots play the Denver Broncos. Collins missed out on the games against the Washington Redskins, New York Giants and the Buffalo Bills and has been able to attend nine practices.
Per NFL.com:
"[Bill] Belichick's defense is multiple enough to survive without Collins, but his versatility is precisely why he's the perfect fit in New England's defense. Before the emergence of the Carolina Panthers, the Patriots arguably had the best linebacking corps in football. Depending on how quickly Collins returns to the field, they could find themselves back on top again soon."
Wide receiver Danny Amendola was also seen at practice for the second day in a row. He had sprained his knee last week but could be ready by Sunday night.
The Patriots are currently undefeated with a 10-0 record.
The Patriots and Broncos will play Sunday night on Nov. 29 at 8:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
