A former U.S. marine's response to Donald Trump's statements about introducing a "Muslim database" has been praised repeatedly on social media.
Tayyib M. Rashid, whose Twitter handle is @MuslimMarine, tweeted out, "Hey @realDonaldTrump, I'm an American Muslim and I already carry a special ID badge. Where's yours? #SemperFi #USMC." The tweet was sent along with a picture of his old marine ID. Rashid served from 1997 to 2002.

Rashid's tweet was in response to Trump's comments about requiring American Muslims to carry a special ID. In a recent interview with Yahoo Politics, Trump stated that he had "big plans" for the country when it comes to handling "radical Islamic terrorists."
"We're going to have to do things we never did before," Trump said. "And some people are going to be upset about it, but I think that now everybody is feeling security is going to rule."
In regards to the database, the frontrunner had said to an NBC News reporter that all Muslims would be required to registered.
Trump added that if elected, he would also send back the Syrian refugees who have relocated to the states.
"They're going to be gone. They will go back. ... I've said it before, in fact, and everyone hears what I say, including them, believe it or not," Trump said of the refugees. "But if they're here, they have to go back, because we cannot take a chance. You look at the migration, it's young, strong men. We cannot take a chance that the people coming over here are going to be ISIS-affiliated."
Rashied's tweet was retweeed nearly 10,000 times and favorited by at least 12,000 Twitter users within a few hours. He also received a lot of tweets thanking him for his service.
