San Francisco 49ers Rumors: Where Will Jim Harbaugh Go

After a disappointing lost against the Seattle Seahawks, Jim Harbaugh's future as the coach for the San Francisco 49ers could come to an end. Harbaugh, who still has one year left in his contract, could be traded or fired after the 49ers CEO, Jed York tweeted that the team's 19-3 loss "wasn't acceptable." And when the owner is not happy, the coach is usually one of the first people to go.

"Nobody that's for us was happy about losing the game, losing a big game," Harbaugh said in a press conference according to Fox Sports. "We're still not happy about it. Our job is, my job, let's talk about my job. My job is to get it right. That's what we're attacking today, without excuse. Onward to the Raiders."

Harbaugh did not comment on whether or not he talked to York after the tweet. The coach added that he and York have not had any conversations over the holiday weekend about his employment status. Harbaugh also did not disclose anything about whether or not he would want to stay in San Francisco for the final year of his $25 million contract.

When asked about the public's comments regarding the 49ers' game and coaching staff, Harbaugh supported his team. He went on to say that management and ownership have not instructed him to make any changes. As of right now, the team is focused on their next game.

"What's significant is we move on without excuse and get it right, make it right. That's our jobs," Harbaugh said. "I don't worry about my future. Haven't participated in any of that speculation. I think I have a recessive gene for worrying about my own future."

Even though Harbaugh might not be contemplating about his future, others have been. Gary Myers with the New York Daily News wrote that it would be "fun" if both New York teams went for Harbaugh. The Giants and Jets have had dreadful seasons, which will most likely lead to staffing changes. The last time both teams were in the market for a new coach at the same time was in 1997.

If the 49ers decide to let Harbaugh go, he could also be headed for the Raiders. Another option, arguably the smoothest one, would be to return to his alma mater Michigan.

Since joining the 49ers in 2011, Harbaugh led the team to three straight NFC championship games.

The 49ers, 7-5, have four games left and can still qualify for the playoffs. Their first stop will be to the Raiders (1-11).
